STAWELL - Stawell Eight Ball Pool Association has continued with its history of helping Stawell's community organisations this year by providing the Stawell Little Athletics handbooks to all members.
Stawell Little Athletics is looking forward to a big season with work on the North Park Athletic track sure to bring in an increase in interest and participation.
Stawell Little Athletics president, Phillip Chaplin said that the requirements for this season are a bit unknown and the club was grateful to be able to have sponsorship for the handbook.
"We want to be able to make sure what money we have goes into maintaining our equipment and resources for the athletes. The support of the Stawell 8-Ball Pool Association means that the expense of producing a handbook is something we don't have to worry about," Mr Chaplin said.
Stawell Pool Association treasurer Chris Pascall, who has his nieces participating in Little Athletics, said he is always blown away when he has come along to little athletics nights and seen how many kids were participating.
"There are kids everywhere trying their hand at running, jumping and field events, it is fantastic," Mr Pascall said.
"The new track, and a new season it is going to be even more exiting for the athletes and the Stawell Eight Ball Pool Association is pleased to be part of it so that the kids can get the most out of it."
Stawell Little Athletics secretary Karen Little, received the cheque from the Eight Ball Pool Association at the Little Athletics registration day at council's 108 Main Street community venue last week and confirmed that the support was very welcome.
"The Stawell Eight Ball Pool Association is a fantastic group that puts a portion of their own funds into supporting grass roots community involvement. We love that they look at our athletes and see the potential that each child has," Mrs Little said.
"It is also a big time for the Stawell Eight Ball Pool Association themselves, coming into a new season and also growing their presence regionally and through representing Stawell in this fast growing sport."
Pool Association secretary, Sue-Anne Dean said that the pool association has now purchased representative shirts and will be easily identified when representing Stawell in competitions across the state.
"Between our pool players and Stawell's little athletes there is no doubt that people will recognise us when we travel to represent our community," Ms Dean said.
The Stawell Pool Association summer competition commences late October.
