POMONAL - The children of the Pomonal Primary School have been working with art teacher Barb Venn on a special 'Myrtaceae Family' backdrop for this year's annual Pomonal Native Flower Show.
The annual flower show, now in its 31st year, always has a special display on the stage and has featured several backdrops by famous Ararat artist Stan Kelly and also canvases by members Jane and Lindsey Williams.
Last year flowers of the myrtaceae family were absent from the display due to the risk of Myrtle Rust being spread throughout Victoria, but the ban has been listed so the Australian Plants Society Grampians Group is going to have a mass display of these flowers this year.
The children, being inspired by Swiss artist Paul Klee, are completing many small canvases to complete one large striking and exciting work for the backdrop.
This mosaic of flower pictures can be seen at the flower show at the Pomonal Hall.
The Native Flower Show is on this Saturday and Sunday.
Admission to the show is adults are $5 and children are free.
