STAWELL - For the second week in a row, Gary Mussett was the hero for Gift as it defeated Gift Shooters to book a place in tomorrow night's Stawell Eight Ball Pool Association A grade grand final.
It was a see-sawing contest in the opening round with Geoff Alborough, Des Pickford and Mussett shining for Gift while Shooters Glen Cooney, Jason Lewis and Sunny Baker claimed a win.
Shooters gained the winning edge in doubles and with wins to Chris Pascall and Scott Blachford in reverse singles, looked on track to progress through to face Ararat Hotel in the grand final.
However, Gift had other ideas.
Wins to Des Pickford, Robert Ross and Joel Dowsett locked the scores at 7-all, setting the stage for a thrilling final round contest.
Gary Mussett once again rolled up his sleeves to win the final game and get Gift across the line, 8-7.
Mussett was a three game winner for Gift, while Shooters Chris Pascall, Jason Lewis and Sunny Baker were solid performers in the loss.
Club X were simply too strong for What Are We On, recording an 8-2 victory to advance through to tomorrow night's B grade pool grand final.
The side dropped just one game in the opening round and then again lost one in doubles.
It was a win to Aaron Blake in the first reverse singles encounter that guaranteed Club X its grand final spot with five games remaining.
Blake was a three game winner for the night, while Trevor Quick, Daryl Troutbeck and Adam Potter claimed two out of two for Club X.
What Are We On's Mick Yanner was victorious in his singles game, while it was Geoff Elliott and Krystal Cameron who stood tall in doubles.
Club X now take on Never Hammered in tomorrow night's B grade grand final.
