CALLAWADDA - There wasn't much separating the top three shooters in the seventy-five target champion of champions event held at the Callawadda-Stawell Clay Target Club.
The champion of champions saw shooters compete in 25 target double barrel, 25 target single barrel and 25 target pointscore sections.
It was a surprisingly good roll up in the wintry conditions.
Competition was very tight until the pointscore section, then the scene rapidly changed to produce some surprising winners.
Craig Kelly of Central Wimmera finished on top with 121/125, just one point ahead of Callawadda-Stawell club president Chris Jorgensen and his teammate Col Dunn, who split second and third prize with 120/125.
In the other event, the mixed target eye opener there were only three possible winners with Chris Jorgensen, Greg James and Col Dunn returning 45/45 to claim the spoils.
Craig Kelly's successful day continued with the Central Wimmera shooter taking out the J & A Fencing High Gun award with 266/275.
Junior high gun was Ararat Gun Club member, Tom Pilgrim with his return of 248/275.
