STAWELL - A special presentation has been made to Stawell stalwart Don Webb, for his service to local government.
Mr Webb was presented with a certificate of appreciation at council's latest meeting in Stawell, by Cr Kevin Erwin. Cr Erwin chaired the meeting in the absence of mayor, Cr Wayne Rice.
Cr Erwin said Mr Webb had spent the past 15 years on the council's audit committee and had done a magnificent job.
"This presentation is being made to a person in the community who is held in the highest regard," Cr Erwin said.
"I would like to thank Don for his extremely valuable contribution to the Northern Grampians Shire Council and previously, the City of Stawell and Town of Stawell."
Mr Webb said it was an honour to receive such recognition from council.
"I am humbled accepting this," he said.
"I have enjoyed what I have done. I was only thinking back a little while ago, when you add it all together, I've been involved with the water board and local government for over 40 years.
"I have made a lot of friends along the way. It has been a pleasure and when you enjoy what you are doing, it's a bonus."
Cr Murray Emerson moved that council record a vote of thanks to Mr Webb for his service to local government.
