STAWELL - The disbanding Grampians Dive Club has left a legacy of $4250 to Stawell Regional Health in memory of its foundation member, Peter Owen, who recently passed away from cancer.
The club presented a cheque to Stawell Regional Health for the new Community Rehabilitation and Oncology Centre and were given a tour of the construction site by chief executive, Rohan Fitzgerald.
Mr Fitzgerald said the latest donation was one of many recently received from the local community towards the new development, which is set to be finished by the end of the year.
"Stawell Regional Health is very honoured to receive this donation from the Stawell Dive Club in memory of such a well-respected member," he said.
"The funds will go toward purchasing a new patient chair for the oncology unit."
Grampians Dive Club was formed in 1983 and was initially involved in search and rescue work.
Members also took diving trips all over Australia including cave diving in Mt Gambier and chasing crayfish and abalone along the Victorian coast.
