STAWELL - Ararat Hotel scored a thrilling come-from-behind victory last Wednesday night to progress through to the A grade Stawell Eight Ball pool grand final.
It was a tight tussle in the opening round between Ararat Hotel and Gift Shooters, with both teams winning three games.
Shooters then took the lead in doubles with Chris Pascall/Scott Blachford and Jason Lewis/Archie Lowe successfully combining.
They appeared to have Ararat on the ropes after Pascall claimed the opening game of the final round, but the minor premiers launched a comeback, winning the final four games to record an 8-7 victory.
Erik Simon was the hero for Ararat, he came in as a sub and defeated Jason Lewis to get the minor premiers across the line.
Chris Pascall and Archie Lowe were Shooters stand outs, finishing with three wins from as many games.
Shooters must now play intraclub rivals Gift, who ended Beginners season in a pulsating final last week.
It was a see-sawing contest throughout the match, with no team gaining the upper hand until the very last game.
With scores locked at 7-all, Gift's Gary Mussett held his nerve to defeat Damien Smith to guarantee an 8-7 victory.
Mussett was the only three game winner for the night, while John Cannata, Frank Rizzo and Craig Simms were brave in the Beginners loss.
Never Hammered showed it is the team to beat after booking a spot in the B grade eight ball pool final last week.
Up against What Are We On, Brett Wilson and Darren Turner opened Never Hammered's account with wins while Ian Notting and Danny Oosthuizen also shone early.
What Are We On rallied in the doubles round with victories to Darrell Eldridge/Damien Ball and Linda Elliott/Andrew Elliott however, Wes Oosthuizen and Danny Oosthuizen scored in the final round as Never Hammered ran out 8-6 winners with one game remaining.
Brett Wilson was Never Hammered's leading player, recording three wins to his name while Mick Yanner held his own for What Are We On.
Club X had a much easier finals match when it faced Nash Blitz.
The side was in ominous form early, dropping just one game in the opening round to take a four game lead.
Nash Blitz couldn't manage to narrow the gap and in the end, Club X ran out 8-4 winners with three games left on the board.
Club X's Trevor Quick claimed three wins.
