STAWELL - Marnoo couple, Chips and Val Fearon, will enjoy a tour of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research in Melbourne.
The couple, who received a formal invitation to tour the facility, will travel to Melbourne in their beloved Volkswagen Beetle 'Reggie'.
Chips said the invitation had been sent out to allow the couple to see where all the money they raised had gone.
Fundraising ventures undertaken so far have included Chips shaving off his beard for the first time in almost 40 years and a tour around Tasmania in 'Reggie' just last year. The tour saw the couple raise in excess of $5000 and all this went to the Medical Research Institute.
"We have raised quite a bit over time for the institute and they wanted to give us an opportunity to see where all the money has gone," Chips said.
"It will be really interesting for us. Not many people would be aware that we are right up there with the rest of the world in terms of medical research."
Chips and Val will be touring the institute in Parkland on Thursday, September 5.
'Reggie' will be remaining in Melbourne while Chips and Val head home, as the popular Beetle is in dire need of a gearbox rebuild.
Chips said all going well, he and Val may try and start planning a trip around Australia some time next year to continue their fundraising adventures.
