STAWELL - Seven students from Stawell Primary School have qualified to compete in the state German Poetry competition in Melbourne tomorrow.
Students travelled to Dimboola last week to compete in the Regional German Poetry Competition. This resulted from the students winning the first level of competition within the school.
Students competed in three different sections at Dimboola, against students from other primary schools in the Wimmera.
Not only did students have to learn a German poem by heart, but they also had to conquer nerves to recite in front of an audience of 50 students from across the Wimmera.
Stawell Primary School enjoyed a successful day, winning the open section and claiming all three placings in both the grade five and grade six categories.
As a result, seven students, Anthony, Lacie, Adele, Anthony, Sadie, Melissa and Laura, have now qualified to go onto the state competition in Melbourne tomorrow, at the Austrian Club in Heidelberg.
