MCDFL - Navarre has just one more mission leading into the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League finals series and that is to dispose of Avoca when they clash tomorrow.
The Grasshoppers were back to their best last week with that massive 174 points win over Campbells Creek and it will be full steam ahead again tomorrow at Avoca.
The Bulldogs have managed a reasonable season to date and they will also be part of the finals series.
Earlier in the season when these two teams clashed at Navarre, it was a comfortable win for the Grasshoppers.
Good news for Navarre is that they will go into this clash tomorrow almost at full strength.
Coach Daniel Parkin, after missing several matches with a dislocated elbow, is expected to play tomorrow. Parkin will be keen to get back into the action prior to the finals.
Full forward Kris Brennan who was unavailable last week will return and Ash Driscoll, who missed the Campbells Creek clash with a neck injury will also return.
Zane Bigmore (knee), who has missed a number of weeks was to undergo a fitness test last night, but is also expected to play.
The only player to miss tomorrow will be defender Brent Flood (calf) who will be rested until the finals series.
Navarre captain Lois Hannett said although the Grasshoppers did beat Avoca earlier in the season, Navarre was aware the Bulldogs have improved as the season has progressed.
"They have been playing a lot better and we will need to be ready for anything they throw at us," he said.
"It would be good to have a win over a team that will be playing finals, so obviously the bigger the win we can have, the better it will be for us leading into the finals.
"If we play at our best there is no reason why we should not win."
Hannett identified Avoca's key midfielders Lachie Edwards and Sam Kaye and tall forward Adam Pilgrim as the players Navarre must shut down tomorrow.
Navarre will be looking for another super effort from Ben Scott after his 12 goal haul last week, while Hannett, Nick Murphy and Brian Lovison will be important in the midfield and Josh Fowkes and Rhett Murphy in the ruck must give Navarre first use of the ball.
