MDFL - Rhodes Plumbing Great Western Lions reserves will take on Penshurst tomorrow in the Mininera and District Football League qualifying final clash at Tatyoon.
There is plenty at stake for both teams as the winner of tomorrow's clash will advance to take on competition leaders Wickliffe/Lake Bolac in the second semi final the following week.
Penshurst narrowly downed the Lions in difficult conditions when they clashed just two weeks back, while earlier in the season it was the Lions who took the honours, so tomorrow's match looms as a tight contest.
Great Western will be looking to key midfielders Steven Lodge and Jayson Smith to get the match rolling, as well as ruckman Craig Cooper to allow the Lions to get first use of the ball.
Lions consistent defenders Lachie Kilpatrick, Clinton Slorach and Jack Fraser will need to be on their game against a powerful Penshurst forward line.
With full forward Nathan Shalders injurying a calf last week and Ash Cooper in doubt with a knee injury Great Western will be looking to the likes of Tim Shalders, Matt Delzotto and coach Damian Scott to lead the way.
The reserves go into this match carrying the hopes of the Great Western Football/Netball Club as the Lions first teams to appear in a final match since the club joined the MDFL,
With the Lions reserves going through their 2012 season without a win, the players will be keen to take their 2013 season as far as possible.
