STAWELL - Local by-laws officers were kept busy Wednesday trying to track and capture a stray sheep.
Authorities responded to a report about 9am and by 9.30am the animal had travelled from the southern end of Wakeham Street to Elizabeth Street just outside the Stawell cemetery.
The quick witted animal stopped traffic and shocked public transport users waiting at the station as it crossed the railway line and busy roads including Main and Barnes Street.
Concerned passers-by who stopped to try and navigate the sheep from the road were no match for its erratic and unpredictable movements.
The sheep was last seen running along Abattoirs road in the direction of the Stawell Abattoirs. Its fate is unknown.
