POMONAL - A busy spring is unfolding for the Australian Plants Society Grampians Group with two major events being planned.
The group will host its 31st annual Native Flower Show and also their second Pomonal Hall fundraising 'Open Garden Weekend'.
The flower show, to be held on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 from 9.30am until 5pm, will present nearly 400 individually named specimens of native flowers from across Australia, all grown in members' gardens.
Pomonal Hall will be filled to bursting point with an additional special display of the marvellous Myrtaceae family and visitors will be able to see a wonderful variety of Darwinias, Chamelauciums, Thryptomene, Eucalyptus, Beaufortias, Melaleucas and more. There will also be a display of Grampians species.
There will be a huge range of interesting, rare, collectable and hardy native plants for sale and gardening, natural history and botanical books, botanical art sales and refreshments available.
In later spring the group will be raising funds for the Pomonal Hall with an 'Open Garden Weekend' on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20 from 10am to 5pm on both days.
Six wonderful gardens will be on show, featuring native gardens and some gardens with a charming mix of natives and exotic plants.
Entry will be $20 per adult and visitors can pay and get their map at the Pomonal Hall on the weekend. There will be loads of plants for sale and refreshments will be available.
