STAWELL - Children at Taylors Gully children's centre in Stawell participated in National Tree Planting Day.
The youngsters were eager to support the initiative and organised a 'plant out' at the centre.
Families were invited to attend the event and help the children to plant trees in the Billabong and Gumnut yards.
The children worked with educators to dig the holes for the trees, place them in the ground and cover them with dirt. They also used water from the tanks at Taylors Gully to water the newly planted trees.
National Tree Planting Day gave children an opportunity to learn about the environment and the connections between humans and the land. The exercise also taught the children about sustainability, teamwork and how to be gentle with living things.
