STAWELL - The Stawell Red Cross branch will hold a street collection as part of its Red Cross Calling fundraiser this month.
Rosemary Henderson said with the recent spate of natural disasters in our region, many people in desperate need have turned to the Red Cross for support.
"The Red Cross helps thousands of people each year by responding to communities, locally and throughout the world affected by natural disaster," she said.
"It helps isolated elderly people stay connected with a daily phone call, and providing a healthy breakfast to hundreds of children who would otherwise go to school hungry."
Ms Henderson said the Red Cross provides for those in need.
"For years to come people will turn to Red Cross for help in times of crisis and we're determined to be there when they do," she said.
"This is why we turn to the community each March and ask them to support Red Cross through local Red Cross Calling activities."
Instead of doorknocking the Stawell branch will this year street collect over a three day period.
"We find these days most people are working and no one is home so we have decided to set up in the street," Ms Henderson said.
Members of the Red Cross will be outside Stawell Amcal Pharmacy in the Main street from 10am to 5pm (or later) on Wednesday March 20, Thursday March 21 and Friday March 22.
"Please come along and show your support by donating generously," Ms Henderson said
"Every little bit helps Red Cross to run vital programs for vulnerable people throughout Australia and the world."
