High chemical levels close Stawell pools

STAWELL - Both the indoor and outdoor pools, along with the spa, have been temporarily closed at the Stawell Leisure Complex.

Northern Grampians Shire Council has temporarily closed both pools and the spa, as a precaution to ensure public safety as the Council works to rectify issues with chemical levels.

Northern Grampians Shire Council chief executive officer, Justine Linley, said the centre was currently experiencing issues around the management of Ph and chlorine levels in the water used in the three facilities.

Mrs Linley said that as a result, and to ensure the safety of the public who use the pools and spa, the facilities have been closed temporarily.

"We understand that this is an inconvenience to the many people who use the pools and spa, especially as it is summer, but the safety of the public is our priority," she said.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused and are working hard to have the pools and spa re-opened as soon as possible."

Mrs Linley said the council was seeking expert advice to help the council test, assess and treat the water used in the pools and spa.

"All other facilities at the leisure centre are operating as normal," she said.
