STAWELL - The success of the Grampians Wildflower Ride has been recognised with Stawell's Community Event of the Year award.
The second annual Wildflower Ride saw 215 cyclists take part in a recreational bike ride in the Stawell area.
The event attracted local riders, as well as competitors from across the state who came to enjoy the sights of the Grampians.
In a major coup, the small but dedicated committee responsible for organising and running the event secured Olympic cyclist Shane Kelly as a guest rider for last year's event.
The key aim of the Grampians Wildflower Ride is to raise awareness of recreational cycling and showcase some of the many fantastic cycling routes in the area.
The most recent ride also sponsored Beyond Blue.
Due to the success of the day, the Grampians Wildflower Ride will continue to be an annual feature on the Stawell event calendar.
