Stawell Warriors netballers pre-season training has commenced, with try outs to be held mid-February.
STAWELL - Stawell Warriors netballers are back in training in preparation for the upcoming Wimmera Netball Association season.
Fitness training has commenced on Tuesdays and Stawell netball director, Susan Byron, said numbers have been good.
"We have try outs coming up and hope to get new players as well as a lot of old players," Mrs Byron said.
Stawell Warriors netball try outs are on Sundays and Thursdays in mid-February.
Sunday sessions will be on February 10 and 17 at 11am for 13 and 15 and unders (registration 10.45am).
The 17 and unders and seniors commence at 12 noon (registration 11.45am).
Thursday sessions will be held on February 14 and 21 at 5pm for 13 and 15 and unders (registration 4.45pm).
Both 17 and unders and seniors start at 6pm (registration 5.45pm).
Coaches for all grades will be selected on Tuesday, January 29.
Last year's joint A grade coach Jemma Clarkson has stepped down from the role in 2013.
There have been a number of changes in the off season in both Stawell's football and netball department.
Clarkson was recently appointed secretary of the Stawell Warriors, replacing Debbie Hart, while John Griffiths will again lead Stawell as president in 2013 with Dave Kaczynski re-elected as vice president.
Colene Matthews has been re-elected as the club's treasurer.
Stawell's A grade netballers had a relatively successful season, dropping only two games to finish on top of the ladder.
Unfortunately the Warriors couldn't continue their winning run in finals, bowing out in straight sets after losses to Horsham and Ararat.
They will be hoping to go all the way this season, with a number of juniors set to step up into senior grades.
"Fortunately, we've got enough netballers and have had no trouble filling teams," Mrs Byron said.
"It's also good to have new families, especially with the new coach (Tim Seymour) and his family here."
