STAWELL - Hell's Kitchen stormed home to win the inaugural Grampians Halls Gap Cup at Friday's Stawell Racing Club meeting.
Trained by Mark Young and with jockey Steven Vella on board, the Colac-based gelding came from midfield and managed to find a clear path close to home to snatch victory by a short half head from De Mars.
In a blanket finish, Freshwater Storm powered home to finish a close third.
Equal favourites in the race, the Darren Weir-trained Some Target and Peter Moody's Covered In Class finished in fifth and sixth place respectively.
In other races, trainer Darren Weir and jockey Dean Yendall claimed a winning double with Ginger Boy and Charge West, while Peter Moody teamed up with Linda Meech to win with the D'Alton's Retreat Maiden Plate with first starter Are There Any.
Jockey Rebecca Williams piloted Love To Learn to victory, Empress Zakynthos scored a win after a five week spell while Smiling Hussy pipped punter's elect Miss Provocative at the post.
Stawell trainer, Paul Jones, also enjoyed success on his home track with Sigidas taking out the last race of the day.
