STAWELL - Harry Murray has taken out the first Stawell Golf Club monthly medal for the year.
Murray returned a nett 59 to win Saturday's Henderson Steel-sponsored event and his overall score of 72-13-59 was enough to claim B grade honours ahead of Geoff Alborough on 82-18-64.
Meanwhile Leighton Dunn was on fire, returning a hot score of 78-3-75 to top A grade with Trevor Taggett finishing a distant second on 79-11-68.
John Carter took home C grade spoils with 107-19-88 from Greg Close on 88-20-68.
Lyn Willcock was ladies scratch winner with 86 nett, while runner up was Joan Fletcher on 72.
Nearest pins went to Nick Seeary on the Stawell Hydraulics third hole, Ron Coppin fired on the Jeff O'Donnell Electrics sixth and Matt Dalton took out the Money Pin ninth.
Geoff Alborough was in good form, taking home the prize on the HiWay 8 Motel 13th while Rob Blachford saluted on the Stawell Toyota 17th and Leighton Dunn was a winner on the Stawell Baptist Church 18th.
Tomorrow is the second round of the summer fourball aggregate stableford championship.
