STAWELL - Callawadda-Stawell Clay Target Club members, Colin Dunn and Leon Gibson, achieved success at the annual New Year's Day shoot at Kerang.
Dunn shot a near perfect score of 89/90 to win the overall and AA grade honours in the 30 target points score championship, while Gibson received veterans honours for his return of 83/90.
In the 75 target champion of champions championship, Dunn finished second in overall and AA grade with 121/125 while Gibson took out B grade and veterans with 116/125.
Dunn received overall high gun honours on the day with 210/215, receiving a CZ Special 22 LR Rifle and sash sponsored by the Kerang Clay Target Club for his effort.
Gibson took home the veterans sash and trophy with 199/215.
Meanwhile, Tim Hughes held his nerve to win last month's Callawadda-Stawell Clay Target Club Christmas shoot.
The day was well attended with the overcast and humid, windy conditions making for higher levels of concentration to score well.
The 30 target Christmas double barrel saw 13 shooters score 30/30, therefore the result had to go down to last man standing.
In the end it was Tim Hughes, a local member, who scored 208/208 to take out overall and 'AA' honours in the event.
Second in AA grade went to Chris Jorgensen with 207/208.
Bill Jorgensen claimed A grade honours with 69/70 from Leon Gibson 53/54, Doug Harris took out B grade with 29/30 from Ivan Jones 27/30 and Geoff Strauss topped C grade with 55/56 ahead of Arron Hall 32/33.
Geoff Strauss, Arron Hall, Gary Grant, Leon Gibson, Andrew Moore, William Coates, Ron Hounsell, Vivienne Moore, Tim Hughes and Chris Jorgensen all shared the honours in the 15 target handicap event, scoring a perfect 15/15.
The last event for the day was a novelty event called the Auto and Driven, which meant shooters had two targets to contend with at the same time.
Nine shooters picked up some Christmas goodies in this event.
Chris Jorgensen, Bill Jorgensen, Ivan Jones and Jon Fielding finished the season on a high, receiving the 2012 CTC aggregate honours across four grades - AA, A, B and C.
Tim Hughes added to his 30 target double barrel win, picking up the J&A Fencing overall high gun with 65/65.
Callawadda-Stawell Clay Target Club will be hosting the fourth annual Dog Trap Creek Classic on January 19.
