Former Stawell girl Jacinta Collier is on track in her preparation for competing at the World Ironman championships in Hawaii next month.
Jacinta qualified to race at Hawaii after winning her age group (18-24) at the Australian Ironman championships in Port Macquarie in April.
Collier's last competitive race was the Yeppoon Half Ironman several weeks ago, where she was the second age group female home, seventh female overall and won her 18-24 age group.
Jacinta attributes a lot of her success in triathlons to being a member of the Stawell Swimming Club for many years, this is where she was taught excellent stroke development by Graeme Carr and Paul Kirsch.
Her running started at the Stawell Amateur Athletic Club where she was female club champion for several years. In this time Keith Haymes spent many hours coaching the talented athlete.
These days Jacinta is a member of the Melbourne Triathlon Club.
In Hawaii, Collier will swim three and half kilometres, cycle 180 kilometres and then run a full marathon (42.8 kilometres).
Her aim is to be around the 10 hour mark like she did at Port Macquarie, however, severe conditions make it a very hard course.
As there is a large number of athletes every year who do not finish, Jacinta will be very happy to cross the finish line.
