Gibson led the field of 50 keen competitors with a credible 148/150 to take the honours in the opening 50 target event.
This was followed by a visitor from Cranbourne, Hector Crawford, winning the single barrel after a short shoot-off in the changing weather conditions.
The double barrel, as expected, saw a lot more shooters having to shoot-off for the prizes, some 10 shooters qualifying with the perfect score of 25/25.
The shoot-off was finalised with Roger Duthie from Hamilton proving too good in the end, shooting 73/73 to win.
Overall J & A Fencing High Gun winner was Wayne Hawker with 195/200, and Gibson's success continued with the sharp shooter claiming A grade High Gun honours with 193/200.
Shooters came from Hamilton, Horsham, Kaniva, Mt Gambier, Werribee, Meredith, Portland, Wagga Wagga, Ballarat, Sale and
Melbourne, joining local competitors for the annual shoot.
Weather was good for the first event, but the forecasted change in the weather arrived and made conditions extremely difficult for shooting with strong gusty wind making targets elusive.
Callawadda/Stawell Clay Target Club thanked its very supportive sponsors in the Jorgensen family, who provided chainsaws as first prize in the Pointscore Championship, Westway Nursery & Garden Centre with ammunition in the single barrel event, Sanders Seedgrading electrical items in the double barrel and Northern Grampians Shire Council with added support in the event by helping to enhance the quality of prizes on offer.
