STAWELL - Geriatricks staged an upset win over ladder leaders Far Cues when the A grade Stawell Eight Ball Pool Association competition resumed last Wednesday.
Far Cues started off the match promisingly, and looked to continue their winning run having lost just the one game prior to the Christmas break.
George Milojevic, Daniel Digney and Ant Lyons took the opening three games for Far Cues before Geriatricks' Tony Molan, Joel Dowsett and Gary Mussett hit back.
Geriatricks' hot form continued in the doubles round with the team having a clean sweep of wins.
Geriatricks were in control of the match leading into the final round; however a late fight back by Far Cues saw the game go down to the wire, with the last game deciding the winner.
Gary Mussett defeated Daniel Digney as Geriatricks' took home the spoils, 8-7.
Gift Shooters clashed with Gone Fishin', recording an easy 11-4 victory.
Shooters dropped just the one game in the opening round.
Gone Fishin's Justin Peck and Jason Spiteri enjoyed a doubles win, however Shooters proved too strong running out eventual 11-4 victors.
It was a top of the table clash in B grade, with Never Hammered taking on The Club.
Club raced to a 4-2 lead before Never Hammered fought back, winning two doubles matches and taking four reverse singles games as they zoomed past Club to record an 8-7 victory.
Brix Blitz blasted their way past Just the Tip, cruising to an eleven game victory.
Blitz dominated the entire match, dropping just one game in the singles and reverse singles rounds with Just the Tip's Anthony Unger and Andrew Beckworth their only winners.
Gadiators took on Easy Dones, recording a five game win.
Four straight wins in the opening round saw Gadiators set a commanding lead early.
Easy Dones were never in the hunt with Gadiators sealing the match with another four singles wins, taking out overall victory (10-5).
