Stawell Harness Racing Club was successful at the Rothacker Medal awards night last Saturday night.
SHRC won the best country club award for 16 meetings or less for the second time in three years.
This is a great reward for some hard work over the past season. The award is judged on several criteria for clubs, including financial management, turnover on-course and off-course, meeting KPI levels and community involvement.
The club had a record profit from last season and has continued to meet its KPIs set by Harness Racing Victoria at the start of last season. At each of SHRC's 12 meetings they conducted they achieved great turnover on and off course.
The meeting conducted at the new Tabcorp Park facility was also recognised as a major achievement for the club, being the first club to conduct a meeting at this new facility and set the benchmark for other clubs to follow.
``Congratulations must go out to SHRC Manager Lisa McIlvride, staff and committee for all of the hard work done in making this possible,'' president Geoff Sanderson said.
Mr Geoff Sanderson would like to also thank their race day sponsors and the Stawell community for their support over the past year.
``We also like to thank our major sponsors, Hygain, who sponsor our back straight and trainer of the month award, and the Stawell Times for their continued support of stories and news on harness racing in this area,'' Sanderson said.
