Sunday's Stawell Toyworld Pacing Cup was huge success for the Stawell Harness Racing Club with a record crowd and turnover.
This was a new venture for SHRC of a twilight meeting on a Sunday, with the club overall very happy with the results of this new format and will continue with this for next year.
The rise of stake money to $30,000 and group three level status for the Cup saw good interest and entries on the day.
The winner Road to Rainbow was a popular winner and the Douglas Brothers combined well to win another Country Cup.
The club's turnover on-course was well over double from last year, while off-course the turnover was well above the industry average for a Sunday country cup.
SHRC president Geoff Sanderson said the crowd enjoyed the change in racing from a day event to a twilight time slot.
``The fast pace action was well received by all who attended and many are asking for more of these Sunday twilights,'' Sanderson said.
The Trotters Cup was a great race as well with Hanginthere taking out the $10,000 race.
Trained and driven by Debra Wicks-Moss and owned by daughter Kristy Moss, it was the first Cup they have won with this nine year old mare.
Kristy, who is blind, explained it was exciting hearing the race and they have been so close in other Cups.
SHRC thanks the Stawell community for its support for the Sunday Pacing Cup meeting in making it a huge success for the club.
Harness Racing Victoria board members were very impressed with the turn out and the way the Club conducted the day.
