The 2010 Australia Post Stawell Gift will be launched at Harness Racing Victoria's Tabcorp Park in Melton.
The launch will be held prior to the Stawell Harness Racing Club's meeting at Tabcorp Park on Friday, March 19, 2010.
Following talks with the Stawell Athletic Club, Stawell Harness Racing Club agreed to put a proposal to Harness Racing Victoria to have the Gift launch at Tabcorp Park.
Stawell Harness Racing Club president, Geoff Sanderson and manager, Lisa McIllvride presented their proposal to the HRV board and HRV marketing last week.
Mr Sanderson the outcome was a great fit for both Harness Racing Victoria and the Stawell Athletic Club to conduct the launch at Tabcorp Park.
``With Australia Post and Tabcorp being sponsors of both codes it is a perfect match.''
The Gift launch will be held during the afternoon to be followed by the Stawell Harness Racing Club's race meeting which will be centred around the 2010 Australia Post Stawell Gift and Stawell and the Grampians region.
Harness Racing Victoria is allowing free use of their facility.
``When race dates for this season were being worked out, our club requested this date so we could promote the Gift at the race meeting.
``The launch of the Gift at this venue is the result of the Gift needing to be professionally launched, something that did not happen last year.
``We are asking that any group or business who would like to be part of this exciting event contact our club. This will be a great way for any club or business to promote what they have to offer over Easter,'' Mr Sanderson said.
He said while at HRV headquarters the delegation also spoke with HRV race programmers for the March 19 race meeting.
``We are looking to stage a free-for-all for pacers over 1600 metres, with speed incentives if a horse breaks the track record.
``This promises to be a great day and evening at which Stawell and the Grampians will be showcased.
``We will again have buses to the meeting and dining options upstairs at Tabcorp Park for the public.''
