Stawell Hydraulics team wins Corporate Shield

A Stawell Hydraulics team has won the perpetual Corporate Shield at the 2009 Fisher's Supa IGA Hospital charity golf day.

Winners of the shield sponsored by Sportspower, were Darryn Jenkinson, Shaun Allen and Grant Stewart with a round of 50.

Darryn Jenkinson and his team also won the handicap division and collected the luggage package sponsored by Foster's Mensland.

Runners up (1) winning the Telstra trophies was the Stawell Medical Centre team of Norman Castle, Andrew Cunningham and Ian Mitchell with a round of 56 for a nett 44.

Runners up (2) was the St John of God team of Jeff Savage, Rick Dodds and Daryl Clayton. They took home the Auto Pro trophy with a score of 54 for a nett 44.

Mixed winners Phil and Lyn Willcock and Mick Dalton of Wilky's Sheds and Fencing were sponsored by Stawell Amcal Pharmacy.

Joy McCracken sponsored the Callaway, which was won by the Rotary team of Kevin Erwin, Ray Grinham and Des Pickford.

The Embassy Print team from Melbourne won the NAGA trophy donated by Enid Smith.

The novelty drive attracted more than 100 entries and was sponsored by Carol Boatman and BOC.

Winner was Nathan McConnell, with Gavin Orr second and Ryan Gardiner third.

Nearest the pin $100 winners were Graeme Ellen, Ian Mitchell, Daryl Clayton, Ryan Gardiner (2), Howard Cooper (2), Rick Dodds, Lyn Willcock, Mathew Skinner, Ray Grinham, Michael Ross, Bernie Walsh, Joyce Wright, Peter Rathgeber (2) and Robert Scott.

Stawell Regional Health board chairperson. Karen Douglas presented trophies and acknowledged Alan Fisher, represented by Greg Earle, who also officiated as tournament director.

SRH director of clinical services, Claire Letts outlined the Stawell Men's Shed project and introduced Michael Gavin, who represented the Men's Shed committee.

Mr Gavin explained some of the projects which had been carried out by Men's Shed and thanked Fisher's Supa IGA and invited anyone interested to visit the facility or become involved.

Tournament secretary, Meg Blake acknowledged the valued partnership which had been established firstly, between Earle's Supermarket and more recently Fisher's, the Stawell Golf Club and Stawell Regional Health.

Mrs Blake thanked all sponsors, groups and individuals involved in any way with staging the event and particularly Greg Earle and planning committee members Helen Davidson and Joy McCracken for their 19 years service as volunteers for the golf day.

Stawell Golf Club president, Gavin Orr thanked his members and said the day had been a well organised and successful event.

It is expected proceeds from the golf day of approximately $9000 will be directed to the Stawell Men's Shed project.
