Kaczynski gets numbers right

21 Nov, 2008 09:30 AM
Dave `XYZ' Kaczynski showed that apart from being able to use most of the alphabet, he is also adept with numbers, by winning the stableford event on Saturday at Stawell Golf Club.

His score of 40 points in division (1) was matched by Laurie Evans in division (2), with the runner ups in each division just one point behind. They were Michael Ross and Judy Clayton.

Both Laurie and his son Bruce managed to have 23 points on the front nine, but Laurie had the stamina to go on with it and secure victory. The ladies need to watch out come Wednesday, as David Sears has been practicing hitting off the ladies markers in preparation for his mid-week rounds. I think a floral outfit would best suit his complexion, Joan.

Ian Mitchell managed to score a magnificent eagle on the 10th hole, but the shock must have been too much, as the rest of his back nine only produced as many points as his eagle. A score of 36 points were needed to win a ball.

Nearest the pin winners were Steve Johnson on the Stawell Hydraulics third, `Nug' Darker on the Jeff O'Donnell Electrics & Air Conditioning sixth, Gus Abbott took the spoils on the short ninth, Greg Earle didn't make the same mistake again, remembering to put the marker out on the Stawell Motel 13th, and George Hall claimed the Howden Toyota 17th.

Ian Stewart posted a great score of 25 points to win last week's Chicken Run from `Poppy' Willcock and Evans junior on 21.

Tomorrow is a stroke event with entries taken from 12noon. Sunday, November 30 is legacy fourball best ball day with both men's and ladies events on the cards. See Lyn Willcock for details, or watch this space.
