Saturday saw the inaugural Albright Metal Recycling stableford played at Stawell Golf Club, with Jo Orr proving to be too classy for the field.
Despite having to play with `hubby and Pa', she shot a great round of 43 points.
Geoff Alborough tried to claim that he could have beaten her, but preferred the prize on offer for second and therefore slightly applied the handbrake (under expert supervision) to get his choice, finishing with 41.
Recently arrived new member, Simon Keogh, also had a good day with a score of 40, playing off an ever diminishing handicap of 18.
Brian Iseppi quenched his thirst with the card draw victory, as a score of 36 was needed to win a ball.
Nearest the pin winners were Brian Iseppi on the Stawell Hydraulics third, Mr Sponsor (Geoff Alborough) on the Jeff O'Donnell Electrics & Air Conditioning sixth, Phil Willcock took the booty on the ninth, Bruce `Handbrake Harry' Henley on the Stawell Motel 13th and the winner's husband (Gavin Orr) on the Howden Toyota 17th.
John Carter, with his new wheels, on 22 won last week's chicken run from Pat Rathgeber on 21.
Tomorrow will be a benefit bogey event with entries from 11.45am and hit off at 12-noon.
Also a quick note that Tuesday's R&B event will hit off at 10am until the end of daylight savings and a reminder that the trivia night is on `tonight'.
My crystal ball is showing a great night is being had by all, so see, or preferably call Lyn Willcock or Joan MacPherson for one of the remaining tickets.
Edging closer on December 5 will be the much anticipated Jeff O'Donnell Ambrose Extravaganza. Entries are now out and must be in before November 28 to get your discounted entry fee. At this stage it is only a men's event, but if sufficient interest is shown then we will have a ladies and seniors section. To qualify as a senior you must be at least 65 with a handicap of 15 or if you are over 70 there is no handicap restrictions. Entry for this event is a mere $25 per player and considering it includes afternoon tea and a light lunch it seems good value.
There is also over $1500 in prizes up for grabs. A great chance to support your club and top up your glory box at the same time.
