GREAT WESTERN - Great Western Football Netball Club is continuing to motor along nicely as it prepares to enter the Mininera District Football League.
Pre-season training is well underway and Great Western secretary, Danny Hoare said the club was really happy with the turnout.
"The enthusiasm from the group is fantastic and we intend to enter the season with full ranks," Mr Hoare said.
Great Western netballers met on Thursday night for the first time and were encouraged by the turnout.
A practice game was held, and according to the club all went 'very well'.
Junior grades have appointed coaches, with senior coaches yet to be named.
The club is also still waiting on players who are yet to decide where or if they want to play this year.
Great Western has attracted new netball members ahead of the 2012 Mininera League season.
"We had a number of new members who are very keen as well as a number of our 2010 members back which was great to see as well," Mr Hoare said.
Training for all netball grades begins this Thursday, February 9 at 6.30pm.
However if any girls are interested, there will be fitness training for those who wish to do that little bit extra pre-season work each Tuesday night at 6:30pm.
Although the club is happy with the level of support it has received from players, the club is still looking for youngsters to play in the under 16 side.
The Lions will be setting up a street stall in Ararat and Stawell in early February to talk to people about playing with the club this coming season.
Anyone who is interested in playing should contact Great Western Football Netball Club on 0438 005 262.
