GREAT WESTERN - Great Western Football Club has released its new jumper design ahead of the upcoming Mininera District Football League season.
Club secretary Danny Hoare is pleased with the results, with the club having to select new colours due to its old Horsham District League jumper clashing with another club in the Mininera League.
"Our new uniforms are based on the old Fitzroy jumper which is part of the heritage of the Great Western Club. The gold lion retains our link as the Lions and the ripping marks on the jumper represents the tenacity of the club," Mr Hoare said.
The new-look jumper created a lot of discussion in the town, and took several meetings to be chosen.
"We ran it through the process of elimination. The designs were whittled down to 10, and members voted from there," Mr Hoare said.
The netball uniform is to be released shortly after the design is finalised.
Great Western Football Club have also released the names of its sponsors for season 2012.
"We are proud to announce that we are able to continue our relationship with Rhodes Plumbing as the major sponsor and Bests Wines and Jonro Constructions as our two gold sponsors," Mr Hoare said.
"Rhodes Plumbing has supported the club as its major sponsor for many years and the club is very grateful for their ongoing support."
Bests Wines and Jonro Constructions have been named as gold sponsors, with both company logos to appear on the football and netball uniforms.
"These sponsors have recognised the potential that Great Western Football and Netball Club has in the Mininera League and have shown their support by ensuring that the club starts in a good financial position," Mr Hoare said.
"We also have many other sponsors who are continuing to support the club with financial and in kind sponsorship."
Mr Hoare said while Great Western is 'very happy' with the level of support it has received from players, the Club is still looking for people to play in the seniors/reserves football, netball teams (all grades) and under 16 footballers.
The Lions will be setting up a street stall in Ararat and Stawell in early February to talk to people about playing with the club this coming season.
Anyone who is interested in playing should contact Great Western Football Netball Club on 0438 005 262.
