Talented Stawell athlete, Jacinta Collier was successful in completing the world champion ironman in Kona, Hawaii earlier this month.
Jacinta had an excellent swim leg, finishing the 3.5 kilometres in a time of one hour and 49 seconds.
This saw her placed third in her 18-24 years age group.
However, due to mechanical troubles with her bike the week before leaving Australia, Jacinta was unprepared for the 180 kilometre bike ride.
Combined with the soaring 100 degrees heat out on the road she slipped back to 10th position overall with a cycle time of six hours, 21 minutes and 53 seconds.
Jacinta put in hard in the 42 kilometre marathon run completing it in a time of four hours, 18 minutes and 11 seconds.
This gave her an overall time of 11 hours, 52 minutes and 29 seconds and took up to sixth in her age group.
Although a little disappointed with her overall time, Jacinta realises in triathlon and sport in general, many things are outside your control and you compete to the best of your ability on the day.
Jacinta was happy to cross the finish line and hear the announcer call - `Jacinta Collier you are an ironman.'
