REGION - A high-level regional taskforce is working to support Northern Grampians and Pyrenees Shire farmers and agricultural businesses affected by the December floods and storms.
Northern Grampians Shire Mayor Cr Dorothy Patton said the agricultural taskforce was established in the weeks following the floods on December 18, which caused millions of dollars damage in the south of Northern Grampians Shire and in the Pyrenees Shire.

Figures collated by Council's Flood Recovery Team reveal an estimated damage bill of $6.5 million with 108 farms, 29 homes, 11 businesses and three community buildings affected by the storms. More than $264,000 worth of sheep and cows were killed and 433km of farm fencing worth $2.8 million lost. An estimated $75,000 worth of crop and around $25,000 of pasture and grazing crop was also lost or downgraded.
Cr Patton said issues the taskforce were tackling included personal support and outreach for affected residents, resource sharing between agencies and ascertaining the resources needed to deal with the December flood damage.
