When Concongella Primary School teacher Dorothy Henty discussed the possibility of a `mock' wedding with some of her students' parents, she was surprised to have two of them volunteer for the real thing.
The wedding of Sharon Ruff to Jason Price turned a practical lesson on customs and celebrations into a hands on exercise, with the school's 31 students playing starring roles.
``The students have been very excited about the wedding and busy learning songs to perform at the ceremony'' Ms Henty said.
``Some of them said the kissing part was a bit disgusting but I think most of them were really looking forward to it.''
More than 50 people attended the special ceremony, held at Concongella Hall.
The couple were attended by their children Shakira, 7, as bridesmaid and Ryleigh, 4, as best man and ring bearer.
Swine flu bans prevented Mr Price's daughter Kaylie, 13, from travelling to Victoria to attend the ceremony.
The students provided the soundtrack for the occasion, performing classics like You are My Sunshine, Colour My World and a special version of Mr Froggy Went a Courting, where the lyrics were changed to tell the story of Mr Jason courting Miss Sharon on a winter's day.
The happy couple were emotional after the event, with the new Mrs Price saying ``It was everything I ever wanted.''
``Jason and I have been together for nine years and have two children together. So it was really for them.
``We planned to get married four years ago but then we had a baby on the way and everything became too hectic.
``Having the wedding at the school made it more memorable for us so hopefully it will be something our guests and the students really remember too.''
Civil celebrant Meg Capurso officiated over the ceremony, the first she's delivered at a school.
Mrs Capurso explained the ceremony to the students as it progressed.
``It was really special. It was a chance to formalise their relationship and they shared that moment with their children and the other school students.''
