Racegoers were dressed to impress

GREAT WESTERN - Racegoers dressed to impress at the Great Western Recreation Reserve, with almost fifty entrants participating in fashions on the field competitions.

The judges were forced to make a difficult decision in the Lady of the Day category due to a number of high calibre entries.

Leila Sweeney came up trumps in a classy pink and green combination, which she made herself.

Ararat's Kylie Milne was named runner up in a classic red and black number.

Both ladies went home with gift packs from Brian Hancock's Stawell Amcal Pharmacy and Rumba clothing vouchers.

Last year's Great Western Cup lady of the day, Kirilly Parry won a prize for the best hat or fascinator, donated by The Body Shop.

The men's category was rather entertaining, thanks to a number of 'bucks' who decided to strut their stuff on the catwalk.

Airport West's Brad Monaghan braved the heat in a black suit to take out the men's title.

While he's not a regular on the fashions on the field circuit, Mr Monaghan said he does enjoy getting dressed up now and again.

He took home an Amcal gift basket and a Foster's Mensland voucher for his efforts.

All three winners received a bottle of Seppelts Salinger sparkling wine.

The children's category was also well represented, with Polly and Hunter picking up prizes.
