Probus welcomes three new members

20 Nov, 2009 09:15 AM
Stawell Ladies Probus Club has inducted three new members at recent meetings.

Mesdames Joan Matthews, Pat Reid and Marj Dyson received their badges from president Brenda Clark.

Mrs Clark welcomed 62 members and two visitors to the October meeting, while 14 apologies were received.

Lesley Bennett gave a report on the Area Conference in Ballarat which she attended with Marie Van Leeuwen.

Rob Gell was guest speaker and Pat Atkinson, General Manager of Probus Centre, mentioned that there were 595 Probus Clubs in Victoria and 1796 in Australia with a membership of 141,195 members. This is evidence of the popularity of being a Probian.

Norma Ridd then introduced guest speaker Jill Miller, from Grampians Community Health. Ms Miller showed pictures and spoke of the progress of the Patrick Street Community Health building, which is due to be completed early next year.

The Department of Human Services will own the building, with Grampians Community Health being the main tenant.

Betty Jeffery gave Ms Miller a gift of appreciation in thanks for her presentation.
