Men's Shed busy building amenities

22 Jan, 2010 09:16 AM
The Stawell Men's Shed participants have been busy with a project to build a new toilet block.

Men's Shed member Brian Winters said the complex would include male, female and disabled toilets and would be fitted with ramps for wheelchair access.

Mr Winters said the toilet block was donated by the shed's owner, Frank Stewart.

``He could see there was a need for it, especially for the elderly people who struggle a bit as they currently have to go all the way down to the front gate,'' he said.

``People from the other buildings will be able to use it and it can be accessed from outside as well as inside the shed.''

The Stawell Men's Shed has celebrated a successful first 12 months in operation, with a barbecue held last year, followed by a special function at Stawell Regional Health earlier this month to reflect on the work achieved to date.
